| Needs Assessment
Essential to the success of our project was a thorough needs
assessment and interview process. By taking the time to talk
to our users and learn how they currently analyze data, we
were able to define a distinct need for our application as
well as define its focus as a crosstab-based exploration
tool.
Aside from the interview process, we developed personas and
scenarios to guide how users would use our system. Finally,
we looked the current systems they use to do their analysis
as well as prior work in the exploratory data analysis field.
